How do I create a script to automatise PDF creation in Illustrator CC 2017?

Before discussing the possibility of of using a script, the question should be more elaborate as in what way the script should function. What sort of PDF file should be the output, what type of source files, etc.? Perhaps an example of the situation at hand could clarify. And does it have to be a script? If it is automation for a series of files you're after you could record an action, which you can then execute on a batch of files.

Create PDF: All You Need to Know

Alternatively, perhaps it's a way of recording some data, such as the name of a file. It seems like the scripting language could do this, but I could be wrong :) The next step would be finding out what the output file is going to look like, then finding a way to store that file somewhere on a local disk. At this point the software should be able to write to disk on disk without the user having to interact with it in any way. The software that writes your PDF should also write the output file to a separate file for you. I don't know of an example of this now being done well, but it's at least possible to work out a way to do it that's pretty simple to understand. Now the next bit is where things go horribly wrong. The software needs to be able to update.
